The Brecksville American Legion Post 196 in conjunction with the City of Brecksville is pleased to announce the initiation of a Hometown Heros Banner Program! Each banner will be in honor of a specific military service person with ties to Brecksville and/or Post 196. Each banner will include their name, branch of service and photo. Banners will be displayed along Royalton Rd (Rt.82) and Chippewa Rd (Rt. 21) for a two year cycle. The annual display time period will include the months of May through Veteran’s Day (November). After the two year display cycle banners will be returned to their sponsor.
Banners are printed, double-sided in color and measure 24”W X 72” H. Full payment of $150 must be included with your application. Checks should be made payable to “ The Brecksville American Legion Post 196”.
A good, clean photo is one of the most important parts of the banner. Please send high quality images only.Pictures cannot contain any weapons, tobacco products or alcohol and must be of the Hero wearing their respective military uniform. Printed photos should be at least 8” x 10” and must not be enlarged from a smaller print or photocopies from an original print. It doesn’t matter how old the photo is as long as it is clean and in focus. Digital photos need to be at least 300dpi high-resolution in a JPEG, TIF or PNG format that would print clearly at an 8’ x 10” size. Web images or cellphone shots of the original print cannot be accepted. Pictures and completed applications can also be emailed for processing (send to htheroes196@gmail.com). Emailed applications will not be processed until fees have been submitted. Checks should be made out to “Brecksville American Legion Post 196”.
Additionally, applications, checks and photos can be dropped off at the Brecksville American Legion Post Monday through Sunday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Please see one of the on-duty canteen staff.
Post 196 reserves the right to edit or reject photographs as needed in order to make them reflect an honorable depiction of our hero’s! Current Post members that are also Brecksville residents will have first opportunity to obtain a banner. Once that list is exhausted current Post members will then be able to obtain a banner regardless of the location of residence.
Note: Please do not call Post 196 or The City of Brecksville with any questions. Rather, contact the program coordinator directly at 216-759-1743 or send an email to htheroes196@gmail.com.
